On April 8th, a box arrived at the graduate school office of Sangmyung University. There were 2,000 masks in the box.
The person who sent the masks is Sun Yu, a Chinese international student who is enrolled in a doctoral course in the Department of Formative Arts. Inside the box, there was a note that said, "I would like to help the faculty and students who are are struggling with Corona 19 a little, and I hope we can overcome this together." In March, 900 masks were delivered from Chinese students such as Ren Dan, Li Liang, Du Xiaolei, Di Aoran, and Zhu Weijia, who are undergoing doctoral studies. They said, "We are sending these with the intention of being a small help when we are all struggling with the Corona 19." Masks received from international students will be distributed to students. “I am very grateful to their minds thinking about our school even though the situation in China would not be good,” said Dr. Kim Jung-wook, graduate school president, who received the masks. Park Min-jung, a professor at the Department of Formative Arts, expressed her gratitude by saying, “We will use it for students in small-scale, face-to-face classes to be held after students' consent and safety measures.”
On the other hand, Sangmyung University quickly checks the mask sales network for international students who have difficulty buying masks in Korea, purchases the masks and distributes them to students. The masks are being distributed to international students with support from Seoul City and Jongno-gu.
